We officially kicked-off the OhioX User Experience Roundtable in August. We have a group of UX practitioners hanging out each month and working in teams to advance the profession and serve OhioX.
As an OhioX Roundtable, we are “pros connecting with pros”: where UX professionals convene across the state. More than that, we want to help Ohio-based companies define, design, and deliver innovative user experiences, growing Ohio’s economy. Good UX leads to economic success and improved human conditions.
Here are our plans for 2023!
Attend and support OhioX events. Major events include the Ohio Tech Summit in May and Ohio Tech Day in September. There will be Summits for different industries and networking events. We want UX professionals contributing to the conversations about tech and innovation in Ohio.
Hang out as a community. We meet via Zoom on the 2nd Friday of every month at noon. We welcome newcomers, catch up with long-time colleagues, learn what local UX groups are planning, and discuss issues. We want to get representatives from OhioX member organizations more involved in the Roundtable.
Tell Ohio UX success stories, in the form of quarterly webinars (3rd Fridays at noon in January, April, July & October). Our first one will be about authors of UX books on January 20th.
Do “work” together to support OhioX and advance our profession. We have teams collaborating on projects:
- Career Awareness Team will focus on Ohio Tech Day to reach K-12 teachers and students.
- Capabilities Team is collecting data on the UX maturity of Ohio companies.
- Professionalization Team is categorizing and evaluating content for a body of knowledge.
Participate in global activities as a state. We will be part of the next 24 Hours of UX. We might start the several-year journey of applying to host the IxDA International conference.
Chris Berry, the President/CEO of OhioX said this in his “Excited for 2023” email:
Even with all to celebrate from 2022 what I’m most excited about is the future. To see what we can build, together, in 2023 and beyond. I truly believe our work and impact is only the tip of the iceberg – because Ohio’s tech opportunity is now. And we’re just getting started.
The UX Roundtable is just getting started, too. Contact me (Keith Instone) at ohiouxroundtable@user-experience.org if you want to learn more, suggest ideas, or join us!
